Faustian Call

In the early 1990s after leaving Nocturnal Rites, then a death metal underground band, the desire to create Qliphotic Black Metal arose. Firmly based in dark magical rites and otherworldly concepts, dirty, hypnotic and harsh chants were made.

After setting up equipment in an old house in the forests outside Umeå in 1993 the Thagirion Demo was recorded with Lord Grimm on vocals. It was released in a very limited edition on Chaos Productions. Two of the tracks from the Thagirion demo were later included in a new project named  Shadowseeds which ventured into ritual/symphonic Black Metal. Shadowseeds released the album “Dream of Lilith” in 1995. Thagirion changed name to Faustian Call and continued the harsh and primitive style of the demo. Several tracks were recorded in the same house as the Thagirion demo during 1993 including Bitter Taste and Ice Cold Fire From Inside as well as Faustian Call. Black Gnosis and Manuscript within a Manuscript were written during the mid/late 1990s and partly recorded on the four tracker. These tracks were then re-recorded in the early 2000s. Around the same time all tracks were assembled digitally from the four tracker and mixed. New tracks were also written and recorded around this time.

Faustian Call is a direct echo of Draconian Initiation, and dark magical states manifesting in aspects of the music. The Black Metal of Faustian Call is timeless but has very little to do with modern overproduced, superficial and commercial metal.
